Donald Shaefitz

Since joining Lutz and Carr in 1996 and especially during his managing partner tenure, Don Shaefitz has fostered a highly collaborative, resource-driven environment with clients and colleagues to provide exemplary tax services to real estate owners in the New York area. He continues to do so today.

Before joining the firm, Don was a partner at one of the largest CPA firms in the U.S. His clients included many of New York City’s most prominent owners, developers, and real estate managers. Don brought that invaluable experience to Lutz and Carr and was integral in expanding the firm’s own real estate practice. He continues to provide tax compliance, planning, and strategy services to numerous real estate industry organizations, their owners and managers, closely held businesses, and individuals.

Throughout his long career, clients have lauded Don for his empathy, emphasis on his clients’ goals and needs, grace under pressure, and teamwork. His unfailing ability to marshal the necessary resources to solve even the thorniest problems continues to help clients minimize potential tax liabilities, ensure compliance, structure transactions, and optimize current and future investments.
