Throughout her career, Marcia El-Baz has advised on and assisted closely held businesses, small businesses operating as sole proprietorships, LLCs or corporations, individuals and multigenerational families with tax and financial planning.

With so many businesses and individuals operating in the global economy, Marcia developed expertise in international taxation with a focus on Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) compliance, reporting obligations for U.S. owners with foreign trusts, inbound transactions, residency matters including expatriation, and tax withholding for nonresidents.

Working collaboratively with legal and financial professionals across borders, Marcia has devised and implemented plans and problem-solving strategies, offering comprehensive service to best meet her clients’ needs and achieve their objectives.

During her years of practice, Marcia has mentored Lutz and Carr interns and junior staff members, helping them hone their professional skills. A former teacher, she also provided pro bono accounting services to various public school parents’ organizations. Marcia is a devotee of the performing arts, especially dance and theater.

Representative Experience

  • Advised on and assisted numerous individuals regarding the IRS’s multiple Voluntary Compliance Programs, including a number of individuals who expatriated.
  • Provided guidance and assisted a group of foreign trusts with U.S. ownership regarding U.S. tax matters and audit-related issues.
  • Assisted several UK companies in establishing their U.S. offices, providing advice on all business and tax matters including federal, state and payroll tax matters for multistate operations, and advised the executives and employees of these companies.
